A built-in problem with the book “The Prankster And The Conspiracy” by Adam

Gorightly is that any “study” of a group such as the self-described “Discordians” or

“Pranksters” is also subject to the flair for misdirection developed by these interest

groups. There is no guarantee that the information about the personal life of street zenist

Kerry Thornley transmitted to Adam Gorightly through Thornley’s diaries and distributed

writings as well as the narrations of his friends, and which Gorightly embellishes with

lusty dramatic detail is actually true. Any reader of this book should employ the eye of a

sly fox and keep the basic ‘Discordian” concept firmly in mind. For this group and

offshoots which Gorightly attempts to document questions the absolutes of “truth” and

“falsity” with the concept of “and/or” as a classification of state of being.

Nevertheless, as attempted documentation of a level of society seldom described in detail

except by professional social workers and sociologists, this book is a valuable resource.

For it is probable that “expendable” assassins are drawn from such enclaves of penniless

self-taught intellectuals and/or refugees from conventional academic conditioning, some

of them army veterans. There is, however, no guarantee that such assassins are always

recruited for conventional nationalistic purposes, though this sometimes might be true.

Adam Gorightly’s book THE PRANKSTER AND THE CONSPIRACY seems tailored

to lead to the conclusion that Kerry Thornley, a counterculture street intellectual of the

1960’s and 70’s, was basically schizophrenic though the reported behavior of Thornley as

narrated from his friends in this same book, demonstrates a somewhat different scenario

in terms of clinical definitions of schizophrenia. The reader seriously interested in the

“Discordian” situation should check these definitions before lumping Thornley into the

pop film “beautiful mind” category with overworked academics who think they see

intergalactic messages in the space between the letters of New York Times news items..

For Thornley was aware of the world about himself and thus, as one example, worked as

a dishwasher so that his income could not be interrupted by the machinations of white

collar subterfuge. Mr.Thornley was aware of playing the role of “street weirdo”. He was

not under the elite illusion that his ideas alone would transport him to Outer Space. Yet it

is paradoxically this quality of “rationalized madness” often observed in the artificiallyThe

ordered worlds of schizophrenics which may provide some accurate reflection of the

larger, subtle insanity concealed within the “ordinary” political and military regulations

against which street zenist Thornley was attempting to protest and which he was

attempting to question by fooling the orderly authorities in terms of their own regulations

on several occasions..

REALITY OF ZEN-LIKE PRACTICES

It may be argued in this context that Mr. Thornley was actually a conscious practitioner

of mental magick in the tradition not only of some Zen and Sufic practices of

communicating or teaching by “acting out” an agenda as did the Stoic philosophers of

pre-Socratic Greece. Diogenes, as one famous member of this philosophical school, is

famous for sleeping in a bathtub and literally going about the streets with a lantern,

looking for an honest man.

The piece of the “Discordian” puzzle lacking in “The Prankster And The Conspiracy” is

simply the reality of the impact on events of mental states connected with zen practice,

the invocation of gods and goddesses and deliberate “voodoo” of one sort or another. Not

the ph.D. trained (for the individual behind the Adam Gorightly pen name has actual

academic training) acknowledgement of archetypes but the actual, willed non-local action

of at times disembodied intelligences and/or human superconscious awareness.

MATERIAL DOUBLES

Conversely, Dr. Gorightly misses a clear material espionage archetype included in the

introduction to his “prankster/ conspiracy” book by Discordian author Robert Anton

Wilson, who denies Thornley’s claim that he (Wilson) is/was a CIA agent whom

Thornley met more than one time to discuss conspiracy theories and other related issues.

This material possibility is the occurrence of “doubles” in the counterculture and

intelligence operative situation. Marcus Wolf, the East German spymaster during the

1950-60’s Cold War, describes the use of doubles and similar disguise ruses in his

amusing and informative autobiography “The Man Without A Face”.

In this context, it should be noted that E. Howard Hunt, a much-discussed operative of

questionable national allegiance, is a prominent figure in the alleged “New Orleans

conspiracy” situation surrounding Kerry Thornley and Castro/ anti-Castro Cuban activist

groups..

In context of the possibility of “doubles by disguise”, this reviewer should note that

Harry Lebelson, a reporter on UFO’s and the paranormal for a number of controversial

magazines, including publications from mainland China during the 1980’s, encountered

on one occasion in New York City individuals who seemed to be the establishment

ufologists J.Allen Hynek and Jacques Vallee on their way to a midtown hotel. These two

individuals later denied that they had been at that location or had met Lebelson there.

This reviewer is not sure if he included this incident in an article at the time but it was the

subject of intense local discussion.

Recently, this reviewer encountered a “double” at a UFO conference in Bordentown, N.J.

where she was speaking on sorcery and ufo claims. This double was of a New England

resident positive to the endeavors of E. Macer-Story. But the “double” spent negative

time cruising the exhibit table of this author and, perhaps deliberately, scowling at the

books. The thought crossed my mind at the time that this was the same “technique” used

to upset Lebelson among others, and so I ignored the situation, cross-checking only with

the other “double” who had not been at the conference. It may be significant in this

context that the tape of my lecture at that event was “edited” to remove certain serious

references to physics concepts and surrealist drama—both subjects of interest intelligible

to an audience OUTSIDE the contained “ufo demimonde” of the occasion Thus the

edited tape of the lecture was rendered very “specialist” within the realms of ufo

speculation and spiritualism whereas this present poet/playwright actually has published

articles and papers on a wide range of topics.. Incredibly, this “ufo group” so fraught with

doubles, editing tricks and attempted alteration of professional identity then urged me in a

variety of ways to remain in close contact with them. They must actually have believed

that I was the idiot character some attempted to create. Was this “misunderstanding”

deliberate?

Since, according to Dr. Gorightly’s book, Kerry Thornley appears to have perhaps been

groomed for an “Oswald double” in the JFK assassination shell game it is odd that the

alert Dr. Gorightly did not realize that the disclaimed “second” R.A.Wilson encounter

with psycho-Discordian Thornley could have been with an R.A. Wilson double as part of

a “double trouble” counter intelligence project coming possibly from several points on

the political compass. Communist extremists, familiar with the disguise and gameplaying

techniques cited by spymaster Marcus Wolf in his book, could have created

doubles just as plausibly as the CIA-mob connection so often theorized after the murder

of counter-assassin Jack Ruby. Why not? Today we recognize the sophisticated post

Soviet “Russian mob” as a significant player in Eastern European and global politics.

This use of “doubles” would jibe in a game-playing sense with the transactional zen

confusion (pun on the orderly style of Confucian advice via the I Ching) deliberately

induced by Kerry Thornley and other “Discordian” street practitioners.

PRACTICAL LEVELS OF DISCORD

Adam Gorightly accurately makes a distinction in his book between the various levels of

Discord practiced by the “Illuminati” of the time. There is an “illuminated”, suave and

semi-fictional pop philosophy no different than the excesses of continental existentialist

nihilism but jazzed up by invocation of a goddess of Discord. But there is also the

transactional and disruptive charade similar to anarchist activities practiced, one might

argue, not only by the prankster biographee Kerry Thornley but by the elusive

“impersonators” of the criminal subculture which ebbs and flows around Bohemian

artistic events in New Orleans, and in every large city in the world.

The question is: what significance do these charades of the subculture really have in

terms of world politics? Are they merely the ubiquitous flute players from afar seen in

every major world capital playing for small change in the public plaza, or does this subtle

sea of international black market Hwala actually have significant impact?

A reader of “The Prankster And The Conspiracy” might well wonder if any of the events

narrated therein are “real” beyond common coffeehouse chit chat and speculation. This

reviewer in the year of 1978-9 was visited by a person who does not come from the roster

of publicly-named and noted conspiracy principals described in Gorightly’s book. But the

individual from New Orleans, 25 years before I would be reviewing this book, described

to me Barbara Reid’s 1970’s voodoo chapel premises in that city, claiming to be a fellow

voodoo practitioner with her. An acquaintance of the Midwesterners in the California

Discordian situation, he turned up in New York trying to “warn” E.Macer-Story that

“something” was greatly amiss among that circle in the area of personal and political

deceptions. But at that time his purpose seemed fuzzy to me. I recall our weekend of

conversation in a resort location on Long Island because it was so puzzling, involving

intense conversation and candle-burning on his part.

At that time, I was working on a novel entitled “Om/ Nada” about the subculture we

were discussing and handed him the first draft, expecting he would glance through it

simply to confirm that it was on a similar theme: the “nothing” within the idealistic “om”

subculture of meditation and tantric yoga practitioners. Instead, he read the entire 200

plus page manuscript, drinking cup after cup of tea as I paced nervously on the beach and

in souvenir shops. He was riveted to it because, in his mind, I had described his situation

without being there physically in his various interpersonal dilemmas in New Orleans and

elsewhere. When New Orleans counterculture priestess Barbara Reid’s voodoo situation

was narrated in “The Prankster And The Conspiracy” as intersecting with the tale of

political :”doubles” ,I recognized it as being the situation of deliberate confusion and

deception concomitant with my naïve draft of the novel “Om/Nada” which had so upset

my visitor in 1979, a man I never to my knowledge saw again in person after that

weekend.

So this reviewer looked through the original draft of “Om/Nada” (which was never

finally prepared for publication at that time due to the focus of attention on NYC off-off

Broadway production of my script “Aphrodite/ The Witch Play”) to find some

“correspondences”. Instead, I found that the interpersonal web I had represented in the

book was unitary, of a piece, and does include a cast of characters much like the people

described in “The Prankster And The Conspiracy”. But it is the hopelessly entangled

inner life of these individual//non-individuals which is the focus of the novel. Like my

visitor of 25 years ago, I could not quote one piece of the book for this review without

quoting all of it—because that’s the “om/nada” point of the discussion.

I can, however, insert a clip from the original typescript for the reader to consider at

leisure. Skip past this clip to simply continue with this present discussion as the typeface

in the clip simply verifies composition in 1979 of the “group think” portrayal.

Everyone depicted in this 1979 draft of a novel is capable of assassinating JFK and the

“Camelot establishment” he represented if any one of this group is capable of doing so .

From the tattooed biker “Tojo Kipness” in the novel to “Diana” the sophisticated NYC ad

executive with erotic fantasies, all dreamed of a better government, an impossible better

world which they knew was nowhere. There is no assassination of a “president” in the

novel “Om/Nada” but there is an assassination of the individual soul, of inner clarity.

Here is where the nightmare meets reality and the possibility of a real “assassination

conspiracy” from this same subculture becomes quite possible.

For in Adam Gorightly’s book “The Prankster and the Conspiracy”, a study of rogue

pranksterism within a very special counter-point- counter culture context, we learn of the

“little jokes” the Nazis played on Jews during the Third Reich in Germany. Then we

learn of the jesting creation of a “goddess of discord” among 1960 vintage

counterculture intellectuals in California as this links with Playboy magazine and other

“gentlemen’s clubs” of the time. Is this a joke or the diabolic sophistry of individuals

with a “real” diabolic connection??

In this context, the sexual excesses of Camden Benares, a Discordian style intellectual,

are linked in “The Prankster and the Conspiracy” with the far right Minuteman Militia .

A characteristic of Dr. Gorightly’s study in this area is the implicit assumption that the

surrealist hi jincks thus described in documentary fashion are thought by the blushing

Everyman, that intrepid reader literate in English since the Middle Ages preceding

Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, to be as fetchingly “cute” as the diabolists on the hell bent

fork of the turnpike might smugly assume. It matters little in practical terms whether this

is on the “right hand” or the “left hand” extreme. For there is a point on the circle where

these extremes meet, and are the same. This is in the ego of the anarchist or “objectivist”

individualist.

In this same context we are treated to the tale of the recipients of spare banana skins

from Kerry Thornley’s ineffective “mellow yellow” psychedelic stunt singing together,

as. neighbors of the disturbance attempting to hold the limp and slippery joke peels off

from their doorsteps that calypso movie favorite: :”Yes. We want no bananas We want no

bananas today.”. Sometimes people just don’t want all this antic “reversal disturbance”

stuff.

BIG EASY “PARANOIA” A REAL CONCERN?

According to Adam Gorightly’s research, the surname “Hidel was nominal JFK assassin

Lee Harvey Oswald’s alias and/or fictional identity.. This happens also to be the same

last name as the controversial, right-slanted Paranoia Magazine’s actual editor-publisher,

Al Hidel. Might this be a significant coincidence?

For Kerry Thornley, the “Prankster” in the title of the book under review here had

written a novel about the Marxist cover of L.H. Oswald prior to the JFK assassination

and was accused by New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison of being in collusion with

.Oswald and other counterculture CIA soldiers of fortune to overthrow and/or control the

government of the United States. Evaluation in various law courts found attorney

Garrison’s interpretation of the number of aliases and disguises which surrounded him in

the streets of the “Big Easy” New Orleans to be “paranoid”. Perhaps those who so judged

Garrison’s mental state had not recently been around town in the Big Easy. Likewise,

those who take the “Paranoia” magazine title, which tends to discredit its own content

lightly as being a joke, may not have adequately studied the time-honored social and

psychological tactics of agents provocateur in the “left/right, right/left” nightmare realm.

But let us now shift focus slightly. As narrated by counterculture “historian” Adam

Gorightly in 2003, and by the unexpected visitor from New Orleans to E.Macer-Story in

1979, there was also voodoo in mid-twentieth century New Orleans, actual voodoo

practice which may be connected with the black magickal and hypnotic skills of the

infamous David Ferrie, a much-discussed individual investigated by district attorney

Garrison and also known to street prankster and sometime waiter Kerry Thornley..

Perhaps certain enigmas in the JFK assassination muddle are actually the result of a

hypnotic “spell” cast by Ferrie or some other actual adept of the black arts. A side

comment here is that your present reviewer does not care particularly for the term “black

arts” in modern context since in a location like New Orleans this might be mistaken for a

racial comment. For several of the most notorious practitioners of voudoun recorded

within the last century have been Caucasian or mixed race gris gris practitioners from the

estates of pre-Castro Haiti and such unlikely locations as New England , as well as the

stereotypical East Southern states and the Cajun bayous attached to the street culture of

the Big Easy. The practices we know in the United States as “gris gris” are actually a

hybrid of traditional African and French (European} sorcery.

HE NUMBERS GAME AND THE SACRED COW

Voodoo priestess Barbara Reid, mentioned previously in this review in context of the

esoteric and hitherto unpublished E.Macer-Story novel “Om/ Nada”, may actually be one

of the few witnesses to suspicious café conversations and similar events involving

political conspiracy to withstand in part a very adept “fix” on the assassination

circumstances by some unknown or as yet unrecognized practitioner of very effective gris

gris sorcery.

Although a sensible issue in the circumstances is whether or not JFK intended to

dismantle or pre-empt certain CIA projects related to counter-intelligence in Cuba and

South America,, an “inside” issue clearly may relate to the destruction of the casino

business by the Communist takeover led by Fidel Castro. But Castro himself is rumored

by the Cuban and Puerto Rican Santoria buffs in the United States to be a practitioner of

powerful gris gris magick himself!! In considering the unsolved and mysterious context

of the JFK assassination, do we then enter an arena of Interdimensional and mental

warfare most familiar to sorcery adepts of all nations and/or those familiar in modern

context with the “martial arts”?

It is worth commenting, since the number 23 is said to be a “sacred Discordian”

synchronicity number, that your present reviewer noticed whilst in Stockholm, Sweden in

June of 2004 a life-sized plaster cow outside a casino there painted piñata-style and with

the numerical arrangement ( 23/ 1 ) lettered vertically upon her udder so as to be visible

through her rear legs, when viewed from behind. This citation of 23 as a prime number

matrix summation seemed to replace the rear orifices of the cow. In Swedish folklore, as

in the culturally-related Celtic & Nordic folklore, the cow is an extremely important and

magical goddess. Wars are begun and ended over ownership of a cow and sometimes

flying cattle have been reported.

A “sacred cow” in the JFK assassination investigations, even in Adam Gorightly’s

sexually liberated and rather reverent account of Kerry Thornley’s various exhibitionist

and activist zen escapades, is the reliance on “rational” and “objective” charades of

“analytic criteria” when people know full well that the “reason” for such an assassination

may actually have been quite mad and/or an interruption from shadow realms of

existence well outside “consensus reality”.

What if the citation of 23 as a prime number by a casino-employed artist is actually

related to the zenist Discordian belief system, and the plaster cow is knowingly being

exhibited in front of a European casino as a representation of “Goddess Eris”? In short:

do these casino owners understand surrealism in any sophisticated way? Probably,

investigators have underestimated this possibility. Yet we do know, as recounted by Dr.

Gorightly and other investigative journalists, that sophisticated techniques of disguise and

deception such as doctored photos and a variety of costumes were employed by persons

active in the New Orleans underground at that time.

An interesting intellectual disguise is the “Discordian” idea that “chaos is random” and

that therefore negatively-oriented random action is the best game strategy.. There are two

problems with this attitude. First, and most obvious to the mathematician: the assumption

of chaos as a negative IE “Discordian” quality is not random and attempts to control or

skew “random selection”. For any individual event may have negative and/or positive

impact. But also the adoption of “drawing lots” or “random action” by one individual as a

strategy does not limit the capacity of the self-ordering larger cosmos to include the

disruptive event as part of a more teleological “destiny pattern”. In fact, the “Discordian”

mythos in general does not take adequate account of non-linear time or “dreamtime” in

which the individual attempt at a random or “Discordian” action does not have a

determinist, absolutely sequential effect.

As one example, the initial Discordo-Playboy magazine stunt devised by R.A. Wilson of

“inventing a black Muslim” identity for the purpose of satire does not seem in present

context of the Al Quaida terrorist situation to be terribly funny. In fact, it seems to be

exactly the limited form of perception exercised by Fascists of the Third Reich who

played “little jokes” on Jews, according to the research of Kerry Thornley, the

‘Prankster” as financed by someone in New Orleans named “Gary Kirstein” who is said

in the book under review to have been a borderline New Orleans mob figure. In

perspective, one has to then question all assertions of identity and intention made in the

documentary analysis of Discordian sources cited in “assassination conspiracy” context.

For “Hassan-i-Sabbah”, the allegedly invented black Muslim in prison, may be very real

and very angry. In fact, he may have joined up with Al Quaida and be supplying the

street gang network in the U.S. and Europe with cell phones, stolen credit card numbers

and Hwala cash in a number of different currencies and denominations. Prankster Kerry

Thornley is said to have once reported to the FBI and/or similar agencies a motorcycle

gang who was up to this type of activist sophistry. This present reviewer of a book which

is alleged to be about Mr. Thornley and his activities then wonders why an inventory of

similar motorcycles was not taken in the “assassination conspiracy” context. A small

motorbike can slip in and out of conventional traffic very easily wherever. Some mopeds

can even be transported by municipal subway.

ALLEGED FACTOIDS OF INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY IDENTITY

In this context, it is worth noting that the allegedly one-person “ John Dillinger Died For

You” society of R.A. Wilson Discordian invention , as described by one “Adam

Gorightly”(whose actual identity has never been objectively defined for this reviewer),

will have to cope with the literal fact that the ancestor of this reviewer yclept John Goff,

an Irishman originally from Belfast who had settled in Minnesota, rode as a vigilante in

the late Nineteenth century against a variety of famous railroad gang outlaws and assisted

in stamping out this train raid problem at that time. He actually did do this. His Irish

Brigade Civil War medals are also literal fact, solid U.S. Union minted silver. .

Lest this statement be taken as yet another rash and populist impersonation of the “Lone

Ranger” based on incomplete historical retrospective, let’s bring this phantasmagoria,

which is very well ordered, up to date. For in the early 1980’s a “ufo contactee” discussed

in this reviewer’s book: ”Dr. Fu Man Chu Meets The Lonesome Cowboy: Sorcery And

The UFO Experience” claimed to have met someone named “Hunt” supposedly

connected with the H.L. Hunt family of Texas as part of the Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania

ménage of far right “health physicists”, military personnel and so on. At the time, this

alleged relative of the Texas “Hunt” family was the least of the issues of the “strange” in

that situation, which involved odd nocturnal lights seen near a military materiels depot.

But in context of one E.Howard Hunt, CIA-connected entrepreneur active in “JFK

assassination conspiracy” debate and known to have a fondness for disguisers the use of

this name by someone or other connected with “far right” issues at at that time employed

by the Navy is of note. Perhaps a clever operative was disguising himself as the man of

many disguises, as suggested by the enigmatic “Dr. Gorightly” in context of a letter

written by nominal assassin L:.H. Oswald addressed to an enigmatic “Mr. Hunt”..

In this context of red herring disguises and ploys, according to this book “The Prankster

And The Conspiracy” odd phone calls with a male voice imitating sounds of a “speeded

up” tape recorder were reported by the controversial Mr. Thornley in 1973. As recently as

last week and off and on for the last several years, your present reviewer has recorded

similar incoming calls by someone imitating a “little girl” cartoon voice on the efax wav

files generated by an electronic voice mail service. The tactic seems obvious and it is a

wonder that the “health physics” behavioral psych people have not been motivated to

change these tactics in the last thirty years!! Perhaps they are short of research funding.

Or perhaps the callers did not realize that when a wav file is burned into a CD it’s done

and dated, baby!! No possibility of retroactively overlaying the magnetic tape or claiming

it came from the silent brainstem of the percipient. But…hey!!...haven’t we just learned

in July-August of 2004 that the latest Al Quaida terror alert is also partly based on

information which is several years old! This does not make the present terror alert

invalid. In the dreamtime of the “Om/Nada” nihilist nightmare, the alleged intent of

mercenary far-right operatives to “frame a nigger jailbird” for the Martin Luther King

assassination as reported in the book under review does fit the a pattern of nightmare

timelessness related to far right voodoo enthusiasts who may be setting up Muslims of

color to take the entire “terrorism” rap.

Information from a variety of sources also contained in “The Prankster And The

Conspiracy” alleges MK-ULTRA or similar co-programming of Kerry Thornley and Lee

Harvey Oswald as dispensable pawns in assassination and mind control machinations by

the CIA or other U.S. government agencies. This reviewer, familiar with the use of

“doubles” by a variety of spy and consultant organizations as narrated previously in this

review, finds the possibility of an “assassin double” plausible on any occasion. But need

this be U.S. intelligence “dopplegagners”? or the “doppelganger” of any intelligence

agency at all? Experimentation and personal use of LSD, heroin and other consciousnessaltering

substances by “agents” of every known political persuasion on Earth has been

reported. Who sells and primarily trades in these substances? Certainly not the ultimate

customers. Therefore, those merchants and customers of the “invisible market” outraged

by events such as the closing of international casinos in Cuba, Afghanistan or elsewhere

may not actually be the visible political entities which they seem to clandestinely serve.

The alleged drug use by Mary Pinchot-Meyer , described in the book under review as

”JFK’s mistress” who was shot shortly after the assassination by unknown assailants is of

interest in this context. Might Ms. Pinchot-Meyer have known the actual identities

common to several sleaze subculture assassination situations, including the elimination of

Jack Ruby and the crippling of Larry Flynt of “Hustler” magazine? The Los Angeles

newspaper in which far right pamphlets distributed in Dallas at the time of the JFK hit

designating JFK as a “wanted” criminal were published was a brief, straight journalistic

effort of the unfortunate Mr. Flynt. But the street connections which netted editor Larry

Flynt rare pamphlets distributed just prior to the JFK assassination clearly might be

exactly the same connections which are “for hire” in assassination situations.

By one of those co-incidences which can cause the hair on the back of the neck of “psi

researchers” to rise irrationally, this present reviewer owns a copy of this Larry Flynt

publication which was presented to her in 1980 by the late reporter Harry Lebelson. So I

will not have to look for this in library microfilm. If it has been stolen from my files or

mistakenly thrown out as garbage—as was some literature on Green beret Col. Bo Gritz ‘

involvement with the far right America West publications sent in 1993 to this reporter at

Magick Mirror Communications—it remains in the akashic records of collective

memory. But, at the time, this literary gift was somewhat of an enigma as I had not yet

made the connection between the reported “Hunt” masquerade of the UFO controversy in

Tobyhanna, Pa. in 1980 and the JFK assassination “E. Howard Hunt” controversy—but

obviously fellow reporter Lebelson (familiar at that time with the E.Macer-Story

investigations) had made some type of subtle connection between the two situations in

terms of possible impersonations and disguises. This simple connection is that those

clever pranksters from the covert sleaze connection network employed and/or inspired to

obfuscate assassination situations may also later be employed to obfuscate situations of

reported ufo contact. Or their previous scenarios and information, if successful, may be

partly employed in such situations due to the “nightmare dreamtime” effect of timeless

and circular deceptive information mentioned previously in this article.

DIFFUSE IMPRESSIONS OF CAUSALITY

Here we come to issues of Kerry Thornley’s documented episodes of paranoia and sexual

exhibitionism, which according to several sources cited in this book, included claims of

alleged “Nazi breeding experiments” as part of U.S. mind control experimentation.

Could Mr.Thornley have been telepathically and/or associatively confusing and

personalizing his sources rather than being completely off base?

As described in the “Om/Nada” novel cited previously in this review, one of the curious

results of indiscriminate “tantric yoga”, LSD and designer drugs by the “luv generation of

the 1960’s” was the negative evaporation of boundaries of personal identity. For, as a

matter of fact, prior to World War Two, and Thornley’s birth, eugenics experiments and

theory were being seriously investigated in both the United States and Europe. Reference

to stereotyped racial characteristics in context of Eugenics theory appears on a College

entrance Examination training booklet from the 1930’s purchased by this reviewer

several years ago from a used book table at the Strand bookstore in Manhattan. New

York. The atrocity of Hitler’s ‘final experiment” in that regard put an end to public

pursuit and discussion of this research. Lest the reader here become a bit stereotypically

paranoid in realizing that this reviewer’s given first name is Eugenia, relax: my

grandmother was “Erina Eugenia” and my mother was “Eugenia Loretta” thus resulting

in your present narrator “Eugenia Ann”. In my personal background is simply the attempt

of immigrants from the UK to create an expatriate backyard dynasty and not any “genetic

experiment” unless you think that ghosts of the ancestors “engineer” such experiments.

In the same mildly whimsical but basically serious mode of observation, it should be

noted that concomitant with reading of the many conspiratorial and/or sexual disguises

and identities included in this book, a “woman” in the Detroit airport where I was waiting

for a delayed aircraft on June 16, 2004 seemed to be a male transvestite dressed in

conservative Midwestern housewifely attire of an earlier era: long white skirt, redchecked

gingham smock-blouse and leather topped “Dutch sole” comfort shoes which

may also have disguised obviously male feet. S/he spoke to me, attracting my attention

by softly repeating:” He will be waiting for me in Columbus, Ohio” though the

destination at this gate was Albany. New York. This seemed to be interactive temptation

and so I remained formal and reserved, studiously reading the book with similar content

on spycraft disguises which I was to review. I did not simply volunteer that I had just

come from Columbus, Ohio. This would have been much too stupid.

The self-described voodoo practitioner who connected himself in 1979 with Barbara Reid

of New Orleans counterculture voodoo fame whilst reading my rather diffuse novel

“Om/Nada” sported at that time an overt connection to the transvestite underground,

speaking in high-pitched “baby talk” to friends on the phone from the resort cottage

where he was then staying in the Hampton area of Long Island, N.Y. Yet in his book

about the New Orleans JFK assassination conspiracy situation, Adam Gorightly mentions

that voodoo priestess Reid, who circulated socially at the time with, among other Big

Easy luminaries, attorney William Garrison and/or members of his staff, was actually

known to be hostile toward gay members of the counterculture community. Or did I read

this gossip during my own 2004 Internet research on voodoo priestess Reid? As Adam

Gorightly points out in his book, everything surrounding Ms. Reid and various accounts

of her life, has a curious kaleidoscopic truth/half-truth quality.

According to Gorightly’s research, Barbara Reid claimed to have seen seen Kerry

Thornley at a restaurant table in New Orleans either with an with oddball disguiseoriented

conspirator who “looked like” both Thornley and Lee Harvey Oswald or

discussing something with a man who actually was Oswald. Because the use of “doubles”

is common in all persuasions of professional spycraft, there is no doubt that such a

conversation might have occurred. The strategy is possible. The unusual factor is that

Barbara Reid, a socially active “voodoo priestess”, noticed this café conversation.

Perhaps the recognition occurred because Mr. Thornley, or someone else at the table, was

providing a “strange attractor” of the spellbinding kind. As instructor of mental and

performance skills, this reviewer has often used the analogy:” If you are speeding along

on an elevated, topological sorcery level, you will notice other would-be adepts who are

also on that level, as an aircraft in the stratosphere encounters other such aircraft which

do not intersect with pedestrians active at the planetary surface.

REVIEWER’S CONCLUSION

Was Kerry Thornley’s paranoia about the JFK conspiracy partly a “spell”, hypnoticallyinduced

obsession or “voodoo hex”? Fidel Castro’s involvement with Santoria as chatted

about in the Hispanic subculture of the U.S. may indicate also some anti-Castro Santoria

involvement, either as propaganda or in actual practice.. Could Priestess Reid have been

attracted into the situation for the simple reason that she was “on a similar wavelength” to

the spycraft people experimenting with mind control via drugs, esp and various forms of

hypnosis? Additionally, on which side of the cold war conflict were these probable gris

gris compadres located? The involvement of the Soviets with esp research and with

extensive use of gay and straight “Romeo” operatives is well known and commemorated

in a number of spy novels and memoirs such as the autobiography of East Berlin

spymaster Marcus Wolf. It is naïve to connect a flamboyant counterculture “mind control

conspiracy” only with the CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies.

R.A. Wilson, who has been identified and/or mis-identified by several commentators as a

CIA operative, is cited on the back cover of the 1977 first edition of his book “Cosmic

Trigger” as a “white cord witch of the Golden Dawn” and also has previous Church of

Scientology involvement. The focus of the Scientology mystique derives from Western,

UK and Scots –Nordic forms of sorcery and similar ideas of “systems” for handling nonlocal

capacities of the mind. In all this, a “humanist mistake” of focus, perhaps

conditioned by an overdose of Ayn Rand “Objectivism” so dear to militant individualist

Kerry Thornley in his youth may be obscuring in counterculture historian “Adam

Gorightly’s” account the “dark zen” of counter-Objectivist espionage deliberately using

spellbinding hypnosis and emotional triggering to undermine conventional capitalist presuppositions

about the nature of material, intellectually-ordered dominance.

One recalls here the various “Process: Church of…” organizations which departed from

strictly intellective Church of Scientology recipes for behavior, noticing the emotional

blindside of that quaisi-scientific philosophy and the evident presence of numerous ex-

Soviet “techno shamans” now expressing their research beliefs on the Internet.

For example, as regards the (23/1) prime number symbol on the genital area of the plaster

bovine piñata, as discussed earlier in this review, the “dark zen” counter-espionage cult

has created a “sacred cow” mental cul de sac as regards sexuality and sexual preference.

In bringing up the topic of any “wrong way” to handle sexuality, or manipulative sexual

tactics, this reviewer is actually violating a “sacred cow” of the counterculture behind

which awkward plaster piñata many spycraft and criminal adepts have hidden while

milking their embarrassed (or enthralled) sexual targets for information. Members of the

street counterculture and home bound affiliates may be heavily invested in a “tolerance of

everything” mythos which blindsides them to manipulation in the emotional and/or

financial area. This manipulation may also, in certain instances, be enhanced by the use

of a “contact high” type of dynamic “togetherness” which is in certain counterculture

circles is “Om/Nada” heresy to question. This “contact high” may be linked to the use of

LSD and designer drugs in some instances but is not necessarily drug induced. A similar

effect can be created by hypnotism and/or charismatic thought projection.

On July 21, 2004 whilst reading the book under review but also entertaining a parallel

consideration of information on the book “The Secret Of Oak Island” by D’Arcy

O’Connor which includes my dowsing work on the Nova Scotia mystery spot and has

been recently re-issued, I was suddenly aware of a “crystal serpent” making an aerial zig

zag interference pattern between the eyes of this reader and the page of “The Prankster

And The Conspiracy”. This was not an intellectually-conceptualized idea but a literal ,

interruptive interference. I could not for a moment see the page and put the book down in

irritation, recalling in “conspiracy” context a similar zig zag form which bothered this

reporter in 1983 when I was also being more conventionally bothered by persons

involved with Soviet and/or mercenary agentry who had noticed my accurate work as a

part time psi consultant for a Navy-CIA-funded project in California which I had quit in

interpersonal irritation with attitudes and protocol at that time.. This intersection with

Soviet and/or covert conspiracy use of psi techniques had then resulted in an article

“ESPionage: Has Mind Control Replaced The Cloak And Dagger?” for PURSUIT

magazine. It should be noted hat this “zig zag pattern” is not the result of epilepsy or any

similar neural disorder, including stress reaction. If so, the symptom would occur much

more frequently and severely than every decade or so for 45 seconds at a time. The “zig

zag”, transparent serpent shape is some type of spirit appearance or objectified telepathic

warning sign.

The deceased New Jersey reporter Harry Lebelson, mentioned previously in this review

in context of odd occultist conspiracy and/or non-conspiracy circumstances,, also was

affected by similar pk-psi alteration effects and once complained that he was

experiencing an unusual, continuous sound. I invited him to my apartment, then in

Hoboken, N.J., out of sympathy, assuming he was having some type of stress reaction..

Much to my surprise, when Lebelson reached my living room I could also hear the sound,

a faint electronic-like humming. I wondered if the folks on New Jersey transit also heard

this sound as Lebelson traveled from his home to Hoboken on the bus.

In the Oak Island research situation, there also was the sighting of a :”phantom serpent”

in 1974 just before your present reviewer traveled from a cabin on Mahone Bay to do the

sightseeing which unexpectedly resulted in the information included in the present

“Mystery of Oak Island” reissue. So the “zig zag serpent” which obscured my vision of

pages 224-25 of the Gorightly book “ The Prankster And The Conspiracy” could have

been simply a signal of “other mystery & conspiracy business” pulling my wire. But it

could also have been a memorable reminder of the possible reality of such “created”

thought forms as the “Goddess of Discord” mentioned in these pages. According to

Discordian philosopher Greg Hill: ”The trips will be different but they will both be

transcendental. Eris is a valid goddess in so far as gods are valid; the gods are valid

when we choose them to be” But this is the “hubris of Eris-worshippers” as indicated

previously in this review. The titanic ordering force of Ananke (fate) is slighted by

Discordianism and an artificial chaos is, from a limited standpoint, assumed to be the

entire cosmic situation.

In stating “Even anarchists need to pay the rent” street zenist Kerry Thornley seemed to

be aware of the larger scope of Ananke and aware quite sanely of “coming in under the

radar” of possible conventional blacklist interference by earning his rent as a waiter and

dish washer rather than insurance salesman, or similar. Are simple, exhibitionist “zen”

anarchists like Kerry who actually know how to legally pay the rent really breaking

fundamental taboos and boundaries? Only one taboo perhaps: the mistaken idea that

those bothered by a conspiracy of mercenary “agents” will not be able to outwit these

agents by reciprocal cunning. For Mr. Thornley was a cunning man beyond the

realization of his biographer in “The Prankster And The Conspiracy”, which is

appropriate. The analysis of Thornley’s behavior, and the behavior of his associates in

this book is flawed by conventional, analytical paradigms. But Dr. Gorightly’s

documentary ability, as an evidently trained and conditioned academic analyst, stands the

text of true science. He has described something he does not understand!!

The fantastic behavior of “prankster” Kerry Thornley may not be based entirely on

paranoid imagination but on mechanisms of the mind which we do not yet grasp

analytically. Are Nazi breeding experiments claimed by Kerry Thornley ideas from a

previous life or from the collective unconscious surfacing because of his use of LSD or

are these now on the agenda of certain gene-splicing labs today? Is the “prankster”

/”Goddess Eris” behavior template a modern semi-fictional “Discordian” innovation or

actually Luciferian in the classic sense of Lucifer as a rebel disobedient to Divine

ordering? In this expanded sense, are the nominal “Discordians” actually as dangerously

disruptive as the infamous “Process Church of the Final Judgment” , a UK extremist

export to the U.S. and Australia which Dr. Gorightly , E.Macer-Story and Maury Terry

(author of the popular expose “The Ultimate Evil”)have described in their various

writings ? Are we blind sided in our inquiries by disguises and superficial characteristics?

Perhaps Dr. Gorightly has not adequately considered the wickedness of “Procrustean

Satanism”, the reverse of natural process known to torturers and academic analysts

worldwide. To wit: what is apprehended or captured must be fit into strictly limited

analysis and procedures, the “unknown” constrained by the “previously known” and the

“new” understood only in terms of “historical record”. “The Prankster And The

Conspiracy” ends with a finale on theories of paranoid schizophrenia and tends to slant

all anarchist protest into the area of mental illness when some of this “conspiracy” may

be cold-blooded mercenary and/or ideological deception enhanced by the “voodoo” or

remote viewing and esp/pk techniques proven to be effective by contemporary research

programs conducted in China, Eastern Europe and the United States as well as in the

quiet research done by academic and government authorities in other countries.

In the actual practice of behaviorist game theory: it takes two to tango. Most games

except solitaire need more than one player to have any impact. Along with this book for

review came a calling card, originally designed by Kerry Thornley, designating any and

all bearers of same as “the Pope”. But, as previously stated, this reviewer thinks such

“Popes” have limited venue. In fact, the idea that even a Discordian goddess might rule

events by inducing chaos does not fully grasp the role of such natural denizens of the

deeper shared mind as the “zig zag ” serpent who neither needs nor solicits conventional

humanist sanction. The invisible “lice” Kerry Thornley sensed within his body and the

mysterious final deterioration of his body, as if by an innate flaying process of skin and

tissue at the time of his death may have been due not simply to unknown, mundane

infections but also perhaps to voodoo-type demonic overshadowing and/or the willed

blockage of deliberate, conspiratorial mental aggression.
